Data allowance
Each Voop phone comes with a monthly allowance of mobile data, plus unlimited UK calls and texts. This article explains what’s included, what happens if a child goes over the allowance, and why data is never switched off.
Overview
| Included each month | Amount |
|---|---|
| Mobile data | 10 GB |
| UK calls | Unlimited |
| UK texts | Unlimited |
The allowance applies per child and resets at the start of each month. Unused data doesn’t carry over to the next month.
Going over the allowance
If a child uses more than 10 GB in a month:
- The phone stays connected. Data is never switched off.
- You won’t be charged extra.
- Data speeds may be reduced under our fair use policy. The phone keeps working, but more slowly.
- If usage is very high, the Voop team will contact you.
Note: If your organisation needs a higher allowance, contact your Voop account manager to discuss a custom agreement.
Why data is never switched off
Voop’s safeguarding features need a data connection. Locations, missing alerts and changes to a child’s settings all reach the phone over mobile data. If data were switched off, these features would stop working.
To limit how much a child uses their phone, use Screentime and content settings instead.
