Devices

A device is a smartphone that is using the Voop mobile network.

Device compatibility

Voop is not compatible with all smartphones. At the moment, Voop only works on Android smartphones. We know people like iPhones too - we're working on it! The Android smartphone must support eSIMs - some older smartphones don't use eSIMs so make sure you check!

We use mobile device management (MDM) on Android devices to make circumvention of Voop very difficult.

Prepare the device for installation

For Voop to be installed, the smartphone must be factory reset. This is because we use mobile device management (MDM) which allows the smartphone to be configured, monitored and secured remotely. This is key to our ability to support you applying safeguarding settings to the device.

To do this, you can follow instructions specific to that device. As a starter, instructions for HMD can be found here, Google here and Samsung here!

If the smartphone isn't new out of the box, and has been used before, make sure you back it up so you don't lose anything! If the smartphone is new, it should be factory reset already and you won't need to take this step.
