Consent
Voop is designed to help children build healthy, lifelong digital habits. We aim to do this by providing children with a smartphone that is safer by design, and by empowering guardians to help keep children safe through a safeguarding platform.
We do not spy on children by reading their messages, recording what they do on their smartphone or by breaking end to end encryption. We believe in being transparent with children, and we are not trying to do anything behind their backs.
Securing consent
In accordance with UK GDPR, Voop is a data processor. The organisation that uses Voop is the data controller. The data controller is responsible for securing the consent of a child to process their data.
We have drafted a consent form to help you secure the consent from children and adults with parental responsibility who use Voop: click here to make a copy of our consent form. You can download the consent form, and then tailor it as required.
It is important that organisations that use Voop secure consent from the following:
- The child that is going to use the Voop smartphone
- The person who has parental responsibility, as defined in law, for the child
Importantly, the child must give informed choice and control over how their data is used. This means that the capabilities of Voop must be clearly explained to the child, so that they genuinely understand what they are agreeing to.
